The
Music Studio of Pablo Aguilar
Lessons
Private lessons are given weekly in sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Lessons are designed to meet specific needs of each student. This include a balance of theory, ear training, technique, and practice advice in addition to performance preparation.
Music
Instruments
Mr. Aguilar teaches piano, guitar, clarinet, and saxophone. A
student may learn one or more instruments simultaneously.
Performance Opportunities
Students will be encouraged to participate in events designed to further their musical experience, such as recitals, competitions, festivals, and Church services.
Practice Requirements
A minimum practice schedule of 30 minutes per day is expected and should be increased as the student progresses to a new level of musical proficiency.
Missed Lessons
To cancel a lesson a minimum of 24-hour advance notification is required. Make up lessons will be given on teacher’s availability or credit for missed lessons could be applied to next payment. A student might be dropped from the program after two unjustified consecutive absences combined with failure to pay.
Progress Evaluation
A progress evaluation will be scheduled every six months on the regular lesson time to set goals, talk about improvement, and discuss any issues related to the advancement of the student. Parents and student need to be present. It might last up to 30 minutes.
Parents’ Role
Parents are asked to assist by providing a home environment conducive to good learning habits. They must ensure that the child practices his assignments regularly. Other parental responsibilities include:
- Providing a piano or keyboard with a bench of the correct height
- Getting the student to the lessons on time
- Paying tuition on time
- Attending recitals and other activities at which parental attendance is
expected
- Asking the child to play regularly
- Being supportive, interested, and
encouraging

He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California at San Diego. He worked for major corporations such as NCR, BEA Systems, and AOL while maintaining a private group of piano students but ultimately decided to commit full time to music teaching when he relocated to San Antonio in 2005. He has over ten years of experience in music instruction to private and group students and he is an active member of the San Antonio Music Teachers Association serving as 2nd Vice-President and Webmaster. Mr. Aguilar leads the music and computer programs at Family Educators Alliance of South Texas (FEAST) and teaches private piano at Musical Arts Center of San Antonio. He also performs regularly with the “Strings of Peace” ensemble as the pianist. During the weekends he enjoys playing the piano for The Seventh-Day Adventist Church and Rolling Oaks Christian Church. He believes that all children are capable of learning music and that teaching includes a never-ending journey of discovery to find out what enables children to be successful learners.
